I can't play any internet stations with a media player. Lubuntu 13.04

Noobie here and needing a little help. I have a new update and install of
13.04 Lubuntu. I am able to play flash videos now, but I can't play
internet music. I go to my fav station and it tells me that "Could not
load mplayerplug-in is now gecko-mediaplayer 1.0.8." I found a question
that is similar to what I have going. I installed VLC with the command, "$
sudo apt-get install vlc browser-plugin-vlc" but I still could not get
anything working.
Little help on this would be greatly appreciated.
